How it works

This function allows users to identify missing items from sequences by having users customise the expected sequence format and then obtain the missing items.

How to use it:

Step 1

In the Analysing and Sampling group of The Audit Toolbar, click on ‘Seq Tester’.

A new window will pop-up.

Note: ensure that your sequence is in sequential order as best as possible before running the sequence test.

Step 2

Select the column/header containing the sequence to be tested.

Step 3

Select between Numeric and Alphanumeric sequence testing.

Step 4

Skip to step 6 if using alphanumeric.

With Numeric sequence testing. first select the increment between each sequential item, usually 1 unit.

Step 5

Next, select the unit type that the sequence is in.

Then skip to step 10.

Step 6

With Alphanumeric sequences, first select the format that the sequence is in. For example if the sequence is INV-001-SA then the format is Prefix-Number-Suffix.

Step 7

Next, enter the increment that is between each sequential item, which is usually 1, and select the unit that this increment is in.

Step 8

Next, enter the prefix and suffix into the two open spaces, first = prefix and second = suffix.

Step 9

Lastly, enter the separator that is between the prefix, number and suffix.

Step 10

Click on Continue to execute the function.

Step 11

Upon completion, a new sheet will be populated with all of the relevant information from the sequence test, along with the missing items identified.
