How it works

The matchup function lets you quickly compare values between data sets, e.g. opening balances, TB
versioning, GL versioning, etc.

How to use it:

Step 1

Within the Analysing and Sampling group on The Audit Toolbar, click on ‘Matchup’.

A new window will apprear.

Note: The datasets you want to compare should be in the same workbook, and can be in different sheets.

Step 2

The function runs based on having two datasets each with a Key header/column and a value header/column.

Key Header/Column (Accounts)

  • The Accounts column serves as the identifier or key column.
  • It is used to match rows between the two tables.
  • Each entry in this column should be unique (or treated as such for matching) to ensure accurate comparisons between the tables.

Value Column (OB)

  • The Values column contains the numerical or transactional data associated with each account.
  • This is the column being compared between the two tables to identify differences, such as discrepancies in balances, amounts, or other metrics.

Now, select the Key and value headers/columns for the first dataset. From the example:

  • Accounts = Key
  • OB = Value

Step 3

Now, select the Key and value headers/columns for the second dataset. From the example:

  • Description = Key
  • PY Final = Value

Step 4

Click OK to execute the function.

Step 5

On completion, the matchup will be generated on a new sheet. This will show specifically only the items that do not agree between the two datasets.

Step 6

To show the full comparison, simply click on the filter in the results column/header and clear the filter.

Step 6

This shows the full comparison between the two datasets.
